I had been diagnosed with PCOS at age 17 and have had issues with my weight for over 20 years. All my labs came back normal for all these years until this doctor noticed that on prior blood work my a1c was 5.7%. Diabetes runs in my family so sent in to have my insulin tested. Low and behold, my insulin was 42 when it should be between 18 and 24! She prescribed me metformin to take twice a day and three months later it was down to 26! I'm slowly losing weight, not sleeping so much all the time, and overall feel better. It means so much to have a doctor finally do something more than just say "lose weight and exercise"
