Clinicians Who Care

I had worked with a gastroenterologist that completely dismissed me, tried to tell me that my stomach symptoms were period related so talk to my OBGYN, told me I need to lose weight and everything would get better to which I responded that I have been having stomach issues since I was born and somehow I don't think it was a weight issue causing that. I was very upset with this doctor and eventually while I was admitted to the hospital my PCP offered to have a gastro he works with consult on my case and everything changed. This doctor treat me were respect, has a wonderful bedside manner so discussing sensitive or uncomfortable topics becomes a lot easier. He listened to all of my symptoms, not just relating to my stomach and since he was running tests to figure my stomach issues asked if it would be okay to also run extra tests to see if he could help solve the medical mystery that had been my life so far. It was a breath of fresh air actually being listened to and that made me gain so much respect for him. He ended up figuring out that I had Crohn's so the doctor who told me it was a weight issue or a hormone issue clearly did not stop and pay attention enough to realize the actual diagnosable issue!!
