Internal medicine Physician saved my life twice!! He listened when no one else would. He gave me a voice!! I had been back and forth to various specialists and ER docs who kept telling me that everything was "normal" but I was not normal! I was bleeding every time I went to the restroom, so much so that I almost gave up fighting, I was so weak, I couldn't stand in my own, my iron count was 6!!! I had UC that had went undiagnosed and untreated for well over a year!! By the time it was discovered, it was after I fired my doc and my MIL called Dr Finn who had been their family doc for years. He had me sign a paper saying I wanted him as my PCP. He admitted me to the hospital and had every doctor from every dept running test after test until the found that not only did I have UC, but it was so bad that the lining of my colon was shedding and it was to the point that it I had waited any longer, I could have perforated!! Not only that, but I had a C-diff infection too, that also went undiagnosed for almost 6-8 months from the time I stated reporting symptoms and was told it was "just a stomach bug" and sent home. But Dr Of nn discovered that too, unfortunately it had colonized and I had to do the 2mth long treatment for it!! I also started having weird, unexplained symptoms another time and took several ER trips for heart issues, kidney issues, unexplained pain those gout my body, rash, etc. Again, kept getting sent home with, "everything is normal". Dr Finn sent me to Neuro because he was limited on what he could test for, he said it could be MS, Lupus, or Lyme disease. The Neuro did a battery if tests and found out that I had Lupus and Sjogren's Syndrome!! During this time, I was hospitalized due to an infectious rash with unknown origin that took over my entire right arm, they thought it may have been necrotizing fasciitis but it wasn't, it eventually led to cellulitis. The hospital at the time put me on IV antibiotics and I went into Anaphylaxis!! Dr. Finn car in and saved me!! He took the time to actually listen to me, he saw me as a person, as someone who needed help, as a patient, as a HUMAN BEING! I truly think doctors lose sight of the fact that we are still human!! I think most of them begin to just look at us like we are dollar signs with legs, or claim numbers above our heads and forget about the actual person!!
