I’ve have been a patient of Dr Urian’s through my pregnancy, salpingectomy (fallopian tube removal), and PCOS management. I’ve also been a doula to some of her patients and witnessed her treating people in labour! She is frank but compassionate and centres patient desires. After I had my one and only baby, we were talking about birth control and was willing to discuss permanent methods. I wasn’t interested at that point but when I asked for it years later, she was willing to do it without hesitation. She had previously noted on my chart that my husband had a vasectomy and mentioned it only to say “oh your husband had a vasectomy and you still want to go ahead with this procedure? Okay.” Like she was surprised but it didn’t change her willingness to give me the healthcare I wanted. She makes sure patients are aware of the risks and benefits of procedures without pressure to choose or not choose something. It’s very refreshing!!
