Dr. Mayer takes MCAS seriously and prescribes Xolair based on symptoms, not lab results. He has personal experience with MCAS. I was able to describe symptoms like "feeling like a rung bell, kind of buzzy" and "a metallic taste flooding my mouth in waves" and he said he knew exactly what I meant by that rather than thinking I was crazy. The first allergist I saw, who I came to whilst in crisis, referred me to psychiatry when my labs showed nothing. So being taken seriously by Dr. Mayer and being prescribed the Xolair I so desperately needed was huge
