Clinicians Who Care

I had been passed around by 5 different clinicians and the ER for six months, the whole time unable to eat, losing a weight till I was gaunt and grey, and unable to walk due to severe weakness from malnutrition. Dr Sumner left his ego and presumptions at the door and really listened to what I had to say, empathized with my discouraging medical journey, and took me and my symptoms seriously. (He did not attribute it to female anxiety like several other practitioners.) Turns out his initial hunch about my condition--malfunctioning nerve signals in the GI tract--was in fact the correct diagnosis! We tested out a low dose of a prescription medication and within an hour I was able to eat and keep it down! I am forever grateful for Dr Sumner and his thoughtful, compassionate approach to his patients!
