AnxietyDepressionEndometriosisKid-FriendlyListens & Believes PatientsPOTS / DysautonomiaThorough & Investigativei had concerns about endometriosis, having always had extremely painful and heavy periods since i first started menstruating at age 10 + have family history of endometriosis, and concerns of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTs) that i first started noticing the symptoms when i was roughly age 14. she actually listened to me, heard me, and empathized with me. ordered testing for both that same day. thankfully, after all the ultrasounds and scans it was found my endometrium is actually pretty healthy, and i don’t currently seem at risk to develop the condition based on testing. still, it was amazing and beautiful that she actually listened and took me seriously, and sent the referral orders in right then and there. my POTs story is a little more tricky and still ongoing, because even with a physician as amazing as stephanie, it’s still a pretty hard disorder to diagnose in and of itself. i went through a tilt table stress test and had a 48 hour 2 lead holter heart monitor. my tilt table test actually ended up indicating orthostatic hypotension, which is basically the little sister to POTs, both being forms of dysautonomia, and with all of the same symptoms, but the baseline criteria for diagnosis is different—POTs effects heart rate, while OH effects blood pressure. it’s very tricky. but throughout all of this, and all of my other concerns with my mental health as well, stephanie has been absolutely amazing. she specializes in women and children’s health, and takes everything medical wise very, very seriously and genuinely listens and is empathetic. she’s also just very kind in general aside from the medical side of things. she’s funny and extremely easy to talk to.
