It took me 20 years to find a doctor who would listen to me about my suspicions of having endometriosis and then agreed to me having a laparoscopy. I ended up receiving my diagnosis for endometriosis as well as PCOS. He was sympathetic to not only the pain I had experienced over the years, but my frustrations of the weight gain that PCOS has given me. He has listened to me every step of the way and has helped me get medications to help me with my hormones. He has always been upfront about everything - from the process of what the surgery would entail and the reality that even with the cauterization of the endometriosis, it would eventually come back. I was skeptical of a male OBGYN, but he had been the first doctor to listen to me and take me seriously.
