Dr. Gie Yu did my colonoscopy at Northside Hospital and it was a fantastic experience. I had had a terrifying and life-threatening anesthesia experience before that made me shy away from doctors, but I was having severe symptoms and needed a really kind and understanding doctor. Dr. Yu delivered one of the best medical experiences of my life, yes, even during a colonoscopy! She listened carefully at my appts even though I stuttered a lot, she never rushed me or cut me off. And even though she was nervous about doing my colonoscopy unsedated, she was willing to try. She was extremely gentle but thorough and followed up so kindly and carefully afterward when I had a little pain after from so many biopsies (she didn’t want me to have to repeat the colonoscopy if I could avoid it), getting me in quickly for a scan to ensure I wasn’t having any internal bleeding (I was not luckily). I had such a good and caring experience with Dr. Yu that I was able to overcome most of my terror of doctors and get help for other things. If you need a colonoscopy or colorectal surgeon and are very scared, Dr. Yu is the doctor to try to see!
