Dr. Sutherland has been an amazing advocate for me. When my appendix started to rupture she wanted to run diagnostic tests, but it deviated from the insurance protocol. After I had emergency surgery for to have my appendix out, she took my case to her hospital grand rounds to share that my presentation was different than typical patients i.e. men. She worked to help others advocate for women and understand that we may present differently.
