Clinicians Who Care

I was referred to Dr. Hunt by my PCP for an elective hysterectomy due to painful periods. I’ve been told no by doctors in the past, stating that I needed to try an IUD before I could qualify for surgery. Dr. Hunt advised walked me through the procedure in its entirety including everything from pre-op to post-op intimacy. At that point, the doctor advised me that if I was ready, she would refer me to scheduling for the procedure. Less than 3 weeks later, Dr. Hunt had pre-approval from my insurance and I was in the operation room. I would like to add an additional note that due to his work schedule, my husband could not attend my consultation appointment. Not once was I asked if this was discussed with my husband, if I had his permission, etc. My husband was the driver for my surgery and during pre-op she confirmed twice with me that I was ready, but did not ask my husband. I loved this about her in particular because it’s MY body and although he was 100% on board with this decision, I am the patient and I firmly believe that the doctor should only be confirming care with me (unless of course I am unable to do so myself).
