He was my gynecological oncologist. At my consult, I made a joke about how it’s never a good sign when other doctors struggle staying calm when delivering your results. He responded with “well a lot of doctors will see a woman having ‘woman problems’ and get scared because they don’t understand women’s bodies.” Calling this out in a field where most protect each other felt comforting. I also read that he was raised entirely by women and seeing his loved ones be discriminated against in doctors’ offices motivated him to join the specialty he’s in. He respects women’s bodies and choices.
