Clinicians Who Care

I’m a 27yo chronically ill, neurodivergent, Afro-Dominican American, bisexual woman. I do not trust doctors. They’ve given me no reason to. But I trust Dr. Holbrook with my life. I’ve seen her for years and have had many great encounters with her but one that stands out the most was several years ago. I was SA’d and I didn’t know where else to go the next morning. I went to her office and she literally gave me candy, held my hand and walked me across the street to the hospital. Then she stayed with me until I was comfortable enough for her to leave. That’s the kind of stuff TV doctors do. That doesn’t happen in real life. In the hours after the darkest moment of my life, my gynecologist was there for me when I needed it. I wish everyone had a Dr. Holbrook.
