Trans-AffirmingLGBTQ+ FriendlyListens & Believes PatientsPatient-Centered CareShared Decision MakingI am an trans woman who came to Dr. Chock as the 4th endocrinologist I had seen in about a 2yr time span. My first one sadly passed away and I was forced to move to my second, who was extremely inexperienced with trans care, gave me wrong dosages of medication that I insisted would be too much, and could not keep track of previous prescriptions she had given me. My 3rd was very arrogant and had even refused me medication at one point because I did not want to switch the form of my medication from injections to pills. He then prescribed pills against my wishes, at which point I switched endos, but in the interim had to effective self-medicate with the previous prescription I had on hand. Needless to say, I was extremely defensive coming to Dr. Chock, to the point that I had printed out studies to bring to the appointment, in preparation that I need to advocated for myself. I did not however, need the studies. Dr. Chock quickly showed that he was not like my previous endos and heard me out about both my previous experiences, and what my transition goals were. At one point he misunderstood my goals, and offered to put me on a very atypical hormone regimen because he thought that’s what I wanted. I turned that down, but we were able to come up with a regimen that work for me and my goals and he listened and was respectful the whole time, even giving me option that I didn’t know were available and none of my previous endos had offered before. Having seen him for a couple years now I can also glad say that he’s continued to be this way, and I’ve been extremely satisfied with my care and fully trust him now to help me when I need it.
