Clinicians Who Care

I hemorrhaged for over 60 days straight (and another month of less severe bleeding). Went to urgent care, primary care, and hospital throughout this time. I was SOAKING through two pads every ten minutes of every single day and was told i was “probably stressed”, this is “normal” (i have a history of irregular periods, although usually the opposite in that i bleed a few days every few months), etc. I had a blood transfusion from so much blood loss but that was it. Dr. Downey listened to me, tried different contraceptives to find one that works for me, helped me regulate my period, took many tests, asked questions, and remembered each detail every appointment. She does not rush our appointments and beyond medical care, she remembers details about my life and checks in on that too. A lovely lovely human who single handedly undid my phobia of visiting the doctor. And she takes medicaid!!
