I fell and caught myself with my hand, and I was in a lot of pain. I didn't have insurance so it went untreated for months. It went from terrible pain at rest to not a lot of pain if I didn't use it. However, if I used my right hand, it was extremely painful. I was taking 5 or more advil a day just to get back to a bearable amount of pain. Originally I went to IBJI at silver cross in New Lenox for my wrist pain. They told me the MRI of my wrist (that was done by their MRI department) was poor quality. Then, they proceeded to tell me that they didn't know what was wrong and to take advil and rest it. I tried to explain that I had been doing that for half a year, but they just tried to rush me out the door. I wanted to do the physical therapy they recommended, but they didn't even give me a chance to tell them that it's so painful I didn't want to even move it. I was doubtful it'd even work anyways because they essentially said, "yeah, we don't know what's wrong and the MRI sucks, but here's a treatment plan." I cried after the appointment because I felt like my pain wouldn't be taken seriously, and that I'd be in terrible pain for a long time. Dr.Cebulko was a breath of fresh air. She sat me down and we talked about treatment options together and what her prognosis was. She suggested physical therapy. I told her I'm totally down to do physical therapy, but I was in so much pain I didn't even want to move my wrist. I told her had taught myself to do everything with my left hand. She listened and showed sympathy to me. She gave me a cortisol shot and my pain decreased a significant amount; it was like I could live again. I went from taking 5+ advil a day to get to a bearable pain to no advil with no resting pain. I booked the physical therapy appointment for the remaining pain I have and I'm hopeful after a long period of suffering. When she listened to me and was transparent about her treatment process, it meant the world to me. I thanked her a lot, but I don't know if she knows how much she changed my life. So, I want her to be on here for everyone to know that she cares and is an amazing doctor.
