Dr. Mastras is a Radiation Oncologist. My diagnosis was a deep skull tumor. A referring neurosurgeon said it was too risky to operate. When I visited Dr. Mastras the first words he said were “I’ve been thinking about you all day” and then he sat with me and told me why he didn’t believe that Rad Onc as a primary treatment was right for me and that I would likely end up blind in both eyes. He referred me to UW where I ended up having a craniotomy to debulk the tumor and then proton therapy radiation to treat the remaining tumor. I’ve encountered some great doctors since Dr. Mastras but he remains the one that stands out as the most thoughtful, attentive, caring, and demonstrating expertise.
